Perez Hilton - Who?

If you hear the name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., you may not know who he is because he's more widely known as Perez Hilton. He is not related to Paris Hilton, although he states they are friends and that's how he selected his pseudonym. Perez Hilton has made quite a name for himself as a blogger and television personality. There are many people, especially celebrities, who do not like him because of his negative comments. One pop singer even mentioned him in a song after he posted negative comments about her on his website. Then there are people that do like him because of his brutal honesty. ??

Perez Hilton was born in Miami, Florida in 1978. He received a BA in drama from New York University. He has lived in Los Angeles since 2002. He wanted to be an actor, but was unsuccessful. He has worked several different jobs, from a media-relations assistant for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender organization GLAAD, to freelance writing for gay publications. For a short time, he was the editor of a gay men's magazine called Instinct. ??

Perez says that he started blogging because it was easy. He has been involved in many lawsuits because of his spreading rumors and allegations of copyright infringement on his website. He has also had a couple of lawsuits filed against him for defamation of character by several celebrities. Perez has become even more popular with every lawsuit filed.
