Celebrity Adoption

There are a few school of thoughts as to why celebrities, in particular, choose to adopt from other countries rather than the USA.

One of the reasons is that they have the opportunity to travel outside of the USA, widely and regularly. This gives them a look into other countries' poor and overcrowded areas. They may feel that these children have it much worse than those in the US and decide to help them. Celebrities know that their money can help the people in these countries, but such help is only temporary. Some celebrities may feel they need a more permanent solution to the problem and adoption allows them to permanently care for an orphaned child.

The celebrities may also feel that adoption from other countries is just plain easier. If you have the time and money, like most celebrities, why not spend it adopting from some country where all they really check is how much money a person has? Here in the USA,  red tape, background checks, and psychological checks complicate matters and can take years to comply with. If celebrities feel they may not pass or don't want the natural parents coming back in a few years to claim the child, they may opt to adopt from another country. There is less chance of being tracked down by a poor mother and father from the other side of the world than a private detective from a few hundred miles away.  Are their reasons noble?  We can only hope so for the children's sake.
