After feeling pretty darned blue for a long period of time, I knew I has to snap out of it. So, to get out of 'the dirty diaper of life', I decided to volunteer so I could put my energy into something GOOD instead of wasting it all bemoaning MY situation.
One local non-profit, The Wellness Community (http://www.thewellnesscommunity.org), drew my attention. I had heard about it through a Holiday Home Tour that they sponsored as a fundraiser. It is a nationwide organization that provides free support, education and hope to cancer patients and their loved ones. And so I called and volunteered my time and computer skills. WHAT A BONUS FOR ME. Not only could they use my help, I think they may have saved me from a total meltdown. The people who are employed there are wonderfully devoted, but the volunteers are so giving and such a fun bunch of men and women. Some have been touched by cancer and continue to give back to the TWC.
Volunteering is a wonderful way to be of service. But more than that, it can remind you of how lucky you are, it's a great way to meet truly good people, and it just plain makes you feel really good. So think about volunteering your time. The return on your investment is priceless.

And I am very glad you came to volunteer at The Wellness Community. In addition to sharing your computer talents, you have brought us much laughter and fun.
We love you!
