"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in." That quote from the Godfather applies to many things in life, but none more so than my relationship with The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Last night, I watched as one of the girls who got voted off the island (OOPS! and I don't watch THAT show) began her new experiment in love as the newest Bachelorette.
Jillian Harris is a lovely girl. While not a classic beauty, she is adorable and her personality and smile shine. I think we're all on her side. Maybe it's me, but the pickings seem slim for our girl Jillian. There is one guy who seems to have a foot fetish, one whose British accent is SO thick that he is hard to understand, and several who look so much alike that even their brightly colored shirts didn't help me tell them apart. Lots of hair gel to spike the hair up in an effort to disguise the thin areas. There were very few that I thought were Jillian-worthy and the previews set us up for quite a train wreck!
The most baffling thing of all to me is that the host, Chris Harrison, who seems to be a likeable fellow, can't come up with a better line than his weekly announcement of 'Gentlemen [or Ladies], this is the final rose'. Seriously. He swoops out from the curtain to make that announcement, as if we can't count, or as if the camera hasn't zoomed in on the silver tray. Well, maybe that is not THE most baffling thing...that would be why I let myself get pulled back in and waste all those hours I will never get back!
