OK now - on vacation (I go home tomorrow) and I made my dear friend watch The Bachelorette with me for the second and last time. Love to hear someone point out to me the stupidity of this waste of my time. She said out loud what I have been thinking. This week we are down to 4 bachelors and we are in Spain.
Jillian and Kiptyn are very attracted to each other. On scooters they ride through Madrid. Somehow the conversation about children comes up after they discuss tight flamenco pants. They have a lovely dinner and connect even more over snails. She tells him that he is so nice - as nice as her dad - that she worries she may be too strong for him. A waiter comes up with an envelope on a tray. This contains an invitation to forego their separate rooms and enjoy a night together in, cue music, The Fantasy Suite. As kissy-huggy as she seems to be, she says she is not ready to spend the night, but some cuddling back at her place would be good. He agrees with her decision. I find this funny - most men would be a little ticked off at being publicly refused, but not our Kiptyn.
Next up is Reid. They have lots of fun together all the time but she knows they need to talk about more serious things. While buying food for their picnic, they laugh about how bad their Spanish is - awwwww. He goes on about how it takes him a while to open up, but then commits to nothing more than liking her. Are we in first grade??? He speaks in generalities but likes her a whole bunch? Wow. Time for recess. The invite for The Fantasy Suite comes and he leaves it up to her. She again is not ready to spend the night with him and he is ok with that but admits to jealousy at the idea of her doing these same things with the other guys. Guess he really REALLY likes her!
Now it's Ed's turn - the prodigal son who returned last week after leaving because of his job. He says he made a mistake, could not stop thinking of her and just HAD to come back. Now THIS we like - a mature man with feelings who can actually talk about them. Jillian says that since she did not get to meet his family and since they missed a chuck of time together when he left, they have alot of catching up to do. We vote for her to go to The Fantasy Suite with Ed. They talked about his family and how they would have loved her and how, after they met, he would have taken her out to karaoke. They have good chemistry and like making out. I swear if she says 'making out' one more time, I am gonna tell the teacher. Are we in high school??? I digress. Next scene they are in a fountain, kissing. The ugly Americans in the beautiful fountain with their big American feet. More talking and he says he can see them together for a long, long time, thinks she would love Chicago, and he loves kids. We love Ed right now. He'd love to spend the night in The Fantasy Suite but she is scared. We want her to go and are terribly disappointed in Sr. Mary Jillian.
Now for Wes, the slimy, might-have-a-girlfriend country singer who caused such an uproar last week. He starts out talking about his album being number two in Chihuahua, Mexico. Already I want to smack this publicity hound. He starts out with Jillian by being rude and as they bicycle thorugh Barcelona, she worries about his lack of affection. He says he thinks she is perfect, she's the type he 'can bear my soul to', and he says this as he sits as far from her as the camera will allow. She feels no romance from him and it gets quite awkward. He is a jerk and she has her doubts about him. Later on at a nice restaurant, he shows up in yet another jeans and jeans shirt ensemble. He claims, when questioned, to have no girlfriend. They speak of his career benefitting form this show and how his manager told him to do well on it. He then says something about 'Numero Uno is the most important person in the world'. Ego??? She questions him about his past relationship and then he refers to the other party as his 'girlfriend' before he backpedals and adds the EX to it. Jillian is all teary-eyed and sad and then the card for The Fantasy Suite comes and he says they should do it. She tells him she wants to 'skip it' and he says ok and takes off. She says she is sorry for him. HUH? I am now sorry for me. And my friend who is watching with me. AND for Jillian because she is so darned stupid!
So now we have the Rose Ceremony WITHOUT Chris Harrison to announce. I am stunned. The promo before the commercial promises 'the most dramatic rose ceremony ever'. SO the roses go, in a countdown, # 3 - Ed...YAY, #2 - Reid. Comments are whispered between Kiptyn and Wes. and then #1 - Kyptin!! Ding, dong, the ass is gone! GOODBYE, WES. And in the car he brags that he is the first guy to make it the final four WITH A GIRLFRIEND. Then he talks about his upcoming tour. He is so smug and such a white trash guy that I am embarrassed for Texas. But mostly I am embarrassed for myself for still watching!!
