Celebrity Deaths

I'm ba-a-a-a-a-ck.  My vacation visit back to old stomping grounds has come to an end, and I am now back in LaLaLand.  While I was gone, there were several deaths about which I have refrained from commenting because I am not sure I can be as reverent as the news would have me be.  But I must tell you that if I was a famous person, I would NOT be comfortable.

Many people believe that death comes in threes.  So we had Ed McMahon, Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.  Good old Ed never made it to my door for the Publishers’ Clearing House.  I always thought he would bring me that check.  And Farah Fawcett’s documentary about her illness tugged at my heart.  She was really courageous.  And Michael Jackson, whose music I have always enjoyed, took over the airwaves for days, eclipsing anything else that was going on in the world.

THEN there was OxiClean spokesman Billy Mays, comedian Fred Travolina and Karl Malden.  I didn’t know much about the first two, but I fondly remember Karl Malden from his films and form TV on The Streets of San  Fransisco with Michael Douglas.  Whew - two sets of three.

This has spawned rumors of other celebrity deaths, most noticeably and incorrectly, Britney Spears and Jeff Goldblum.  And then I heard that Gale Storm, a TV actress from my childhood had passed away.  But now today I have learned that THE Oscar Mayer had left us.  I have put down my mustard and backed away from the grill out of sadness and respect.   And that is no B-O-L-O-G-N-A.
