I have written before, in early July, about hair coloring at home. I have made every mistake possible AND I should know better having worked in a hair salon for years. Not being one to take the time to read instructions, I tend to dive right in to everything first and pay for it afterwards in many ways. And at home-hair coloring is no exception. I have ruined a bathroom rug, towels, bathrobes, good bras and paint jobs. I wish I had found this web posting before I had tried this on my own. It is http://www.pedicureandmanicure.com/2009/05/28/hair-coloring-101.com. It has info and helpful hints that could have spared me much trouble. It really does spell out for you the simplest of hints for a successful attempt at this beauty ritual.
What it doesn’t address is how to choose the right color, and I think that is because every body and every body’s hair and chemistry is so different. I HAVE learned that you should go a shade lighter than you THINK you should, otherwise you will get the Morticia Addams/Goth look. That’s fine if that is your goal, but for most of us who are of a ‘certain age’ this is not desirable. There are some great new kits on the market specially intended for root touch-ups and those are a great way to stretch out the time between visits to a salon professional. But even with these, the hints in the Hair-Coloring-101 article are the best advice. So pay this site a visit. It’s full of beauty tips!
