My House in LaLaLand

I currently live in a suburb of Los Angeles.  At least I THINK it's a suburb of LA.  It can take me either 45 minutes to get downtown, or it can take me three hours to get there.  It depends on the *&%$+#@ traffic.  But that is not the point.  The point is that I live far enough away from downtown that I am out of the San Fernando Valley.  The San Fernando Valley (that of the Valley Girls fame) is the place that is cited on summer weather reports as being the hotspot of the day.  When it is 112 there, it is a sunny and cool 90-something at my house.  The SF Valley also has pretty thick air that you can actually SEE.  I don't have that at my house. It is quite delightful due to the lack of humidity.

My house is darling.  Due to my impending divorce, I will have to vacate soon.    This makes me incredibly sad, but it is what it is, as I say alot these days. My yard is full of colorful flowers and all sorts of crazy California plants - beautiful!  There is even one lemon tree, but it is kind of sick and the lemons never quite make it to adulthood.  And then there is the pool.  Technically, I think it should be called a 'po' since you can only do about 1.5 strokes before you hit the other end. Ah, but on a hot day it is so refreshing.  All of this is behind gates...gates that are either keeping people out or keeping me in, I'm not sure.  And maybe I will hit the lottery and can stay.  Stranger things have happened.

So now I get to go out and look for a place to live on my own.  I am kind of excited about it and scared too.  I have NEVER lived alone, technically-speaking.  He traveled alot and so really I have been alone for a long time, but now I get to do it all my way and screw it up my way and laugh about it my way.  SO if anyone has any helpful hints on how to go about this, or how NOT to, then please feel free to let me know!
