I have to make an appetizer next week. It is for a boat ride, and it won’t be able to be heated, but it can be chilled. Now I certainly cannot come up with something original on my own because I am no Betty Crocker and, really, how much salsa and chips can you have? And so off to the internet I went to find boat-worthy recipes that can survive out in the open.
Well, I landed on a site called preserveandcook.com, and, as it happens to me all the time, I kind of got lost in there. I looked at appetizers, and then at pies, and then at baked brie. Then I had to get a snack because this made me hungry. SO back I went and ended up reminiscing over a recipe for homemade baker’s clay and then on to some Christmas things. But one of my favorite things was an entry called Icy Tips for Party Beverages - visit http://www.preserveandcook.com/2008/12/20/icy-tips-for-party-beverages.html.
This article talked about ways to make ice cubes for holidays or special events. Simple, right? It talked about freezing juices in molds, or cupcake tins and that is when I thought about doing something fun to drink for this boat trip. I found some of these new silicon cupcake molds in funny shapes at a craft shop and I am going to make the greatest batch of ice cubes! This is the perfect thing for my talents! Just think what fun you can have at the holidays and kids will love it. I know I have a punch bowl somewhere….
