Every minute of every day there is a camera flash aimed at some celebrity or sports figure. In just about every country in the world there are at least some paparazzi. England and the United States seem to have an unprecedented amount of them though. For that reason, many stars leave the U.S. when they need a break from the non-stop unwanted attention.
Celebrities will do any number of things to avoid the paparazzi. The most common deterrent is to stay behind closed doors (or closed gates) and stick to their own safe haven. For others, there is always the disguise. Many stars have gotten away with going out simply because they alter their appearance. The paparazzi have gotten use to this though and are very attentive to the comings and goings have stars who‘ve worn disguises in the past. In a few cases, the stars move to or spend a lot of time in other countries. Michelle Williams has said she would move to France to get away from it all. As well, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie go overseas quite often to get away from all the attention. Even Nicole Kidman frequently goes home to Australia when she needs a break from all the cameras.
Some stars will simply hold up their hand so the camera can't get a good picture. Others will be more combative if they think that their privacy is being violated. Many stars will cover their face or head with scarves, hats, coats or other things just to hide who they are to the ever-eager paparazzi.
