One of the major retailers who is STILL in business is burying me in coupons for the upcoming holiday season. 20% off is not so bad, especially in this economy. I finally have gotten smart and keep these coupons in my car so that when I get to the mall, I have them with me, rather than realizing that I left them on the kitchen counter.
Let's start out with the lovely, fragrant gift packs at all the cosmetic counters. There is something for all ages and genders to leave them sweeter-smelling, softer, moister and less wrinkled or spotted. Can I save 20% as the coupon says? NOPE - read the small (miniscule) writing on the back. "Not for use in Cosmetics".
How about a purse, key chain or other bobble from Coach? I go to check out and BOOM - the small print says "Not for use on Coach items". A golf shirt for the snob who only wears LaCoste?
Read that small print once again and find out that you can't use it on that either. In fact you can NOT use this savings on the following: Designer shoes, handbags and sportswear, cosmetics, fragrances watches, all electrics and appliances, furniture and mattresses, floor coverings or rugs, and anything on their gift registries. Then it gives you a list of every name brand in the store that you CAN'T use it on. It covers just about everything they stock.
I did find one thing on a sale rack that was eligible. It was from the summer of 2007. I am sure that after I fix the rip in it and but some buttons to replace the missing ones, it will be a great buy!
